Low light, whether it be from storms, early morning or early evening, have always been a challenge to me, in understanding how to create the illuminosity of light, at the same time, creating the illusion of darkness...all with the same pigments that are used in paintings portraying daylight.
Being able to see into the darkness, and "feel" the color that still remains, or rather that our eyes can still detect, is a challenge, because this moment is so fleeting! Many a painting have I attempted, and few that have captured, and survived either the wood stove or a good dirty rag, that merely wipes the panel, toning it for the nect attempt!!
