I traveled all over the West: from the mountains and shore lines of California,
to the Rockies, to the borders of National Parks...in warm weather and blizzards, in camps that were so muddy,
someone once made a spoof: They placed horse reins deep in the mud,
leading back to a pair of gloves, and a hat placed behind this, in a deep chasm of clay-like mud...
sure helped us laugh at the mess we were living thru!
The memories are all fond! It was a time and place that I could have a trade blanket laid out with thousands of dollars
of black powder riffles, trade beads and other wonderful trade items of the period...walk away for hours, and come back
to cash laid on my blanket for some purchased item someone could not live without!

Oly was a long time friend, who had quite a sense of humor.
One year when he came to camp, he told us all of how he broke his leg
when he was run over by his basset hound!!! True! That's no yarn!!
What actually happened, he had stopped his car
to give his dog a "potty break." He set his break, walked around to the other side of the car, and the dog hit the parking break...
need I say more? Another car came by, found him under the car, with his leg bent the wrong way, and they asked:
"Are you okay?" and Oly replied: "Naw, I always lay under my car with my leg going the wrong way?!!?"
