This was one of my favorites! Still is, and was purchased by an artist that lives in Colorado....
It was created on Saturday morning, where the entire group of PAPA artists gather, to display their abilities for the viewing public. I had just finished a piece. Looking up, I couldn't believe the colors of that early morning...the sky, the water, the backside of the Casino, even the boats in the harbor...were all just about the same value!! How often does that happen? A bigger question:
Could I capture it?
This is perhaps the most recognizable building on Catalina Island. It use to be used in
the '20s as a major dance casino. During the years that PAPA first formed, like for 20 years, we
had our major exhibition in this gorgeous building. During those twenty years, works by all the
PAPA members was exhibited, and purchased, from such artists as: Ken Auster, Kenn Backhaus, Bye
Bitney, myself, Lynn Gertenbach, Gil Dellinger, Frank LaLumia, Jean LeGassick, Kevin Macpherson,
Ned Mueller, Ralph Oberg, Ray Roberts, Ron Rencher, Jane Shuss, Matt Smith, Brian Stewart, George
Strickland and it`s founder: Denise Burnes.
